Interested in joining the Altadena Guild?

We are always looking for new active members who would like to help us fulfill our mission to raise funds for HMRI and Huntington Hospital. We have a great group of active and dynamic women, who put on one of the best annual local events, the Altadena Guild Home Tour, and have a lot of fun along the way. We have monthly meetings, often including fascinating speakers from HMRI. We have a number of subcommittees where you can really get involved in organizing any aspect of the Home Tour and other fundraisers.

Since its founding in 1952, the scientists and physicians of Huntington Medical Research Institutes (HMRI) have helped improve lives through patient-focused scientific research. HMRI is proud to have had the support of the Altadena Guild since its inception. HMRI is also proud to be Pasadena’s only independent biomedical research institute, dedicated to finding diagnostic tools and treatments for serious diseases that affect millions of people each year.

HMRI's principal research programs are directed toward better understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and dementias, migraine, heart disease and the impact of these diseases on a person’s vascular system. HMRI endeavors to develop diagnostic tools to screen for diseases before symptoms appear. We are also committed to providing educational lectures and programs for our community members. OUR JOURNEY is a monthly educational and support program for people caring for loved ones with dementia. Annually, HMRI hosts a free Community Health Forum on one of our primary areas of research regarding the Brain, the Heart and the impact of the two on our vascular system.

The Guild was founded February 14, 1951, to support the work of the hospital. The first benefit was a tour of three houses in February 1952 with net proceeds of $428 given to help furnish offices of a newly established research facility, the Huntington Medical Research Institutes (HMRI). Now in its 70th year, the Altadena Guild has raised millions of dollars for HMRI and Huntington Hospital.

At the Hospital, the Guild underwrites employee scholarships and also supports the Constance G. Zahorik Appearance Center which benefits cancer patients. Guild members also recorded thousands of volunteer hours at the Hospital last year. And the Guild recently made a $100,000 commitment over five years for the Hospital’s new Cardiac and Vascular Center. To learn more about HH, please click here.
